For the past thirty years, NZ Baptists have been supporting underprivileged children in South Asia through student sponsorship.
The children selected for the programme come from remote village communities or belong to marginalised tribal or ethnic groups. These children are given the opportunity to attend school and receive an excellent education.
Sponsorship also provides a place for these children in a Baptist-run hostel. With many village children living more than a day’s travel from school, the hostels provide a wonderful home-away-from-home, where students are able to live in a caring and supportive Christian environment. For some of these impoverished children, living in a hostel means having enough food to eat, warm clothes to wear, and safe water to drink.
By sponsoring a student, not only are you investing in a child, but also the villages and communities they come from. We are now seeing a generation of former students graduating as teachers, doctors, pastors, and other professions, and using their education and skills to serve their families, communities and others in need.
Your financial support of $45 a month will provide accommodation, food, clothing, healthcare, tuition, and books. In addition, you will help provide wages for the hostel staff.
