Aditi is the daughter of Dola, one of the original 20 women who began working with Kerry and Annie at Freeset. Dola is barely older than Kerry and Annie's own children, and is an example of the next generation being freed – she is a woman who did not go through the ignominy of being forced into the sex trade as her mother was. She was able to choose to marry (another rare privilege) and three years ago gave birth to Aditi.
But four months later Dola came to Kerry and Annie, concerned about her daughter. They arranged for her to be seen at a well-known eye hospital and the diagnosis was not good – multiple tumours were present in both eyes. She began to undergo gruelling treatment, including chemotherapy, and celebrated her first birthday lying in a hospital bed.
At fourteen months her right eye was removed and doctors continued to use laser and chemotherapy to try to rescue her left eye. Throughout the ordeal Aditi remained a bright and beautiful child, and Dola continued to pray, trusting God for her daughter. Kerry and Annie are thankful for the many who gave and prayed for this small girl as she battled such a serious threat, and they continued to support Dola and Aditi through the ordeal.
In April, Aditi received her last treatments, and in September was given the all-clear; all signs of the tumours were gone. She celebrated her third birthday with the Freeset family this year and the staff thank God for the testimony of this little girl.
