Steve and Lyn are engaging with many new people who have come to the church and the clinic due to a new casino resort opening recently. This brings the total to 34 casinos and the annual visitor numbers to over 28 million.
They have recently been encouraged by a baptism at Easter and time spent with an enquirer who turned up after church one Sunday wanting to talk. Another really encouraging event happened when the church did a ministry trip in their own backyard, volunteering to distribute Bibles and packets at a tourist site and interacting with the crowds. Steve says, “This was a really neat moment for several of us - a grandmother from Mainland China somehow found out I was a pastor, so she came over in tears to ask us to pray a blessing on her grandchild - all in mandarin, so I really didn’t know what was going on. My translator was a Taiwanese man who is a very immature Christian, and it was a great moment for him to be doing ministry at that time.”
