It's always a little faith stretching when new or returning workers are ready to head overseas and they don't have all their team support. The tranzsend policy is that they can't leave New Zealand until 90% of their required support has been pledged.
We're going through another of these faith stretching times at the moment as we have two couples and a family planning to head overseas in the next three months. Richard and Sally propose leaving for South Asia on 18th June. Mark and Vivienne, along with Christina and Rochelle, are hoping to return to Thailand in mid July, after leave of absence. Ian and Mairi plan to leave for South Asia in mid August.
It is exciting to have such good quality people heading overseas on behalf of us New Zealand Baptists. However, in an economy which is struggling and with many in our communities having difficulty making ends meet, it is a real challenge to raise the necessary funds to send them. In the end we have to have faith that the call of these people and the affirmation of this by their churches, Mission Council and the Assembly, is in line with God's plans and purposes, and that he will supply the needed funding. As the often quoted J. Hudson Taylor said, "God's work, done in God's way, will never lack God's supply."
