A teaching centre has been established by tranzsend in Kalasin. tranzsend is a strategic mission partner of MISSION WORLD.
Just before Christmas the tranzsend team in Kalasin found a suitable building for a teaching centre, and took over the lease and keys on January 22nd. It is one room wide and three storeys high, in the same row as a local church and situated one lane away from the central plaza in the heart of town. The location is ideal and the rent is very reasonable. The landlord has agreed to extend the lease beyond one year and this longer term arrangement will enable longer term planning.
The first task was to clean up as the building had been used to store cartons of beer and bales of tobacco. This required much sweeping and scrubbing and a YWAM team completed the task by cleaning the walls in preparation for painting. Some alterations and painting followed to transform it into a work centre. The painting and electrical modifications provided much needed income for some church members. It is envisaged that the centre will be a place where many things can be taught e.g. baking, sewing, soap making, playing the guitar and English. Peter plans to set up hydroponic systems on a large balcony on the second floor.
The centre was ready for use mid April.
